Big Sur views, wine, love & laughs

make for an EPIC engagement session.

Today we are featuring Tyler & Althea’s engagement session. They are so much fun and down for ANYTHING! We went to 4 different locations around Big Sur and a few of them required some hiking to get to and that did not stop them. These are our favorite kinds of sessions to photograph! We just love going on an adventure in general, but when we can share that with our work and our clients, it’s a win win for us!

Doesn’t really feel like we are working; and isn’t that the dream?

Tyler proposed to Althea at a pull over spot near the Bixby Bridge in Big Sur, so they already knew they wanted to photograph their engagement session with the bridge in the background. We are ashamed to admit that we were not as familiar with Big Sur and it had been a very long time since I had been there, considering I am born and raised in the bay area (Shannon is Cali grown). We knew we had some scouting to do beforehand. When Christina and I arrived, we felt like we transported ourselves to another land and had discovered a hidden gem that must never be forgotten again!! Thank you Tyler and Althea for bringing us here to re-discover this magical place.

Once we transported to this other land, we had a hard time narrowing down our locations and we did with the 4, if you can believe that. There are too many cool places to photograph here and too many hikes to explore. The beaches are out of this world beautiful!

From the Mountain Tops to the beaches; Big Sur, WE LOVE YOU!

We always feel like our clients are our kind of people and we genuinely love hanging out at our session. With Tyler & Althea, it was instantaneous. They booked us for a mini session to test us out (great idea btw). We had such a great time with them and their new pup (FRED!!) and they loved their photos so the booked us, officially for their engagement session and their wedding in 2022! We laughed with them the entire session as we traveled from mountain sides to cliffs to bridges and to beaches! They popped bottles of champagne, ate charcuterie on the beach and ran through the water at sunset!

My favorite part of all was watching their true love and all the real moments behind the scenes that only the people closest to them get to see. THAT is my favorite part about what we do! Seeing them take care of eachother and look at eachother with such love. Every time we would get back into the car, Tyler would open Althea’s car door. How freaking sweet and adorable! <3 We cannot wait until next year to photograph these lovebirds again!
