WE’RE ENGAGED!

And we had a little help from our friends…

That’s Right! It’s “finally” happened! Yours truly has decided to have a wedding day of our own! It’s funny because we LOVE love so much! Everything about it, all the different kinds of love. It brings us great joy to be placed into so many of your lives to capture that feeling in an image. WE LOVE IT!!!

Now that I am typing all of this out, it does seem odd that we never wanted to share our love with everyone. Well, don’t get me wrong, we felt like we shared our love everyday with eachother and with the people we see, so it’s not like we wanted to keep our love private (obviously, if you know me at all, you know I tell everyone every chance I get how much I adore Christina). It just took us 14 years to understand that true love like ours is a very unique gift and deserves to be celebrated however you feel is right! And now, this is right for us.

Here is a quick re-cap of our 14 years together for those that do not know: Christina and I have been together since I was 19 and she was 21 years old. (now we are both 30 something years old.. you can do the math…lol) We met in college at our Photography School in Santa Barbara called Brooks Institute of Photography (Shout-out to all of our fellow Brookies). We have done a TON of growing and changing since then, but we have done it all together. As well as lived in 4 cities all around CA. We’ve shared our life with the best dog ever, bought a home in the cutest little mountain town and now our adventures are really just beginning! There it is.. you’re all caught up!

Since we had been together for a little bit of time, just a little! ;) I wanted to do something GRAND for the proposal and I also wanted her to be super surprised. I started it off with hiring the best at OneLove-Photo to capture “Branding Photos” for us. Danya was the perfect addition to the day and made us both feel comfortable through the whole thing, but we also forgot she was even thought capturing some of the greatest moment in our lives.

The idea was to start at the park and go back to our home to finish the session, where everyone was suppose to be set-up in our backyard ready for the proposal. Well, Mother-Nature is always having plans of her own. During a week that had been about 75-85 degrees,, the forecast predicted rain on that Sunday, April 25th. And did it deliver. It sure did rain and it was not exactly the perfect date “Not too hot, Not too cold. All you need is a light jacket” (from Miss Congeniality, anyone?) It still was our perfect date!! April 25th, 2021. We still photographed at Sanborn Park, in the rain. :) Below are some images from our “Branding Session”

After the Branding Photos, we headed back to our home, where now I had the caterer and the band set up inside our home, not in the backyard. Anyone that knows me a little, knows I am slightly a control lover (not freak, I just love being in control), so being out of control was a good challenge that I needed! :) Fortunately for me, I hired all the right people, because it turned out that I was able to relax and enjoy the moment. This was key into making the day a success.

Next on the list was for us to go home and to surprise Christina with a huge set-up and serenade with our favorite songs. I knew exactly who I wanted for this: Lavender Fields Band - they are an acoustic 2 man band that will blow you away. I literally envisioned them playing at our wedding and also knew I needed them to help me with a surprise proposal after we met them at a local Wedding Fair a few years back. I had never envisioned these things before, so I knew it was time! We did a photoshoot with these guys for their latest Band Photos and their session turned out EPIC.

Here are 2 pics from our session with them- Check back on the blog next week for their Band Photos and information on where to see these guys play and how to hire them for your next event.

They sang “Simply The Best” Schitts Creek version as she opened the door and made Christina cry. Christina is not a crier, so this was awesome! Well, since it was happy tears! :) After I proposed, they sand our song, “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” and continued to play for us and our friends for the entire experience and it was, how should I put it, simply the best. :) LOL.

Go to their website to hire these guys for your next event or check out their schedule online to see what Winery or Tech. Company they’re playing at next.

The decor, set-up desserts, charcuterie and vibes of the entire day were set by our favorites, Far Out Catering. You have heard us talk about these ladies before and we will never stop because they are amazing. Kiah and Carla of Far Out took care of everything. They had an indoor back up rain plan ready to go and transomed our living room into a romantic oasis. It was crazy. Below are several snaps from our big day! They did such a beautiful job!
